Probe against tehsildar underway

Chief Minister Complaint Cell has directed Anti-Corruption Department, Rawalpindi to complete investigation against Tehsildar Rawalpindi Sohail Maqbool for his alleged role in misusing his powers and transferring 30-kanal land to an alleged fraudster.
Director General (DG) Anti Corruption, Lahore, had directed director anti-corruption, Rawalpindi, Chaudhry Zulfiqar to investigate the matter on immediate basis.
On the orders of Chief Minister Compliant Cell, Lahore, the then Director Anti-Corruption, Rawalpindi Chaudhry Zulfiqar on February 7 had appointed Assistant Director Syed Sabtain Abid Kazmi as inquiry officer of this case to investigate the matter immediately.
The applicants Naila Azam, Anila Azam, Farah Azam and Maria Azam have filed an application in Chief Minister Complaint Cell on January 21, 2015. The applicants complained that Tehsildar, Rawalpindi, had transferred over 30-kanal land at Fatehjang to an alleged fraudster, Amir Afzal. They said that they have land of Registry No 518 and 519 and ‘Intiqaal’ No. 944 and 945 in their name.
The applicants alleged that, Sohail Maqbool, took big amount as ‘bribe’ for the illegal transfer of their land.
When ‘The News’ contacted Assistant Director Anti-Corruption, Rawalpindi, Syed Sibtain Abid Kazmi said that he is investigating the matter. It was the issue when Sohail Maqbool was Tehsildar Fatehjhang and now he is Tehsildar, Rawalpindi. “Not only, Sohail Maqbool, but some other revenue officers including ‘Patwari’ Muhammad Altaf were also involved in this case,” he claimed.
He said that he has called all involved revenue officers in next and final hearing, which would be held on May 30. “I will decide the matter on
next date of hearing on May 30,” he said.
