Islamabad: The Aabpara Police have busted two rackets of criminals, including female gangsters, active in Islamabad for a long time and recovered snatched cars, jewellery, cash, arms and ammunition from their possession, police said.
The high-ups, following public complaints, constituted a team led by the SHO Aabpara Police Station to hunt the gangsters down, police said. They said the team, making headway to the chief of a gang, identified as Younas, and arrested him. The arrested man confessed to his crimes during interrogation and identified other members of the gang, including two women, who played a major role in criminal activities.
Police later arrested a gang of criminals involved in looting people by impersonating themselves as CID officials, police said. Initially, police hunted down seven members of the two gangs, identified as Jasim, Badar, Shehzad, Hussain, Sadia and Zara and recovered 5.20 kilograms of charas, 3 pistols, 30 live rounds, fake registration books, fake number plates, jewellery, 3 cars and one motorcycle used in crimes.
Aabpara Police Station SHO Khalid Awan, when contacted by this correspondent, said the gangsters were involved in looting people by impersonating themselves as police officers while being armed, wearing CID uniforms, mounting police revolving lights and displaying CID cards. He added that they were previously convicted and proclaimed offenders and court absconders in nine cases committed in different parts of the federal capital.
