The education ministry is currently working on proposals that would be submitted to the federal government to introduce uniform system of education in the country.
The proposals are being prepared on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who wants uniform system of education across the country to bridge the gap between marginalised students and those studying in elite institutions.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Constitution of Pakistan envisages that the state should take all out measures to give equal opportunities for education to all the children as it is their basic social right that cannot be denied at any cost.
The introduction of uniform system of education is part of the national action plan unanimously prepared by the government and the opposition parties to make an end to rising terrorism in the country.
Spokesperson for the Education Ministry Professor Rafiq Tahir said the prime minister chaired a high-level meeting in which he directed the ministries of education and religious affairs to come up with proposals to launch uniform system of education in the country.
