A cotton warehouse was gutted in a fire in the Shershah area on Tuesday. According to a fire brigade spokesperson, the blaze erupted on the night between Monday and Tuesday and quickly engulfed the entire building of the warehouse.
Firefighters immediately reached the scene on two fire tenders; however, three more fire tenders were sent to the property to join in the battle that lasted four hours.
The spokesperson said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. He said two firefighters were slightly injured during the operation and taken to hospital from where they were discharged after first aid.
The warehouse owner complained that the firemen used delay tactics, which resulted in a massive loss to him. On the other hand, the spokesperson for the fire brigade denied the allegation and said that the people in the warehouse first attempted to douse the fire themselves and later they informed the fire brigade after they failed to extinguish the blaze. He said the firemen also faced a shortage of water, but six water tankers were immediately provided to them to carry out their operation.
