LAHORE
Punjab Ombudsman Javed Mahmood has ordered the Collector, the DSP Sadar Circle and the TMO of Khanewal to ensure dispossession of illegal occupation of state land within one month and submit a compliance report to the Ombudsman Punjab Office.
Muhammad Tasleem and residents of Chak No. 79/10-R had lodged a complaint to the ombudsman that Muhammad Mustaqeem etc. had been illegally occupying state land, reserved for the pond of the residents, since January 2009 despite orders and decisions of Revenue Courts up to Senior Member Board of Revenue and civil as well as district courts.
He alleged that neither any case was registered against illegal occupants despite directions nor the accused had been dispossessed from state land. The ombudsman directed Advisor District Khanewal Zahoor ul Haq Rana to probe the issue. It was disclosed during the course of inquiry that the DPO Khanewal had issued orders for legal action against the illegal occupants but local police flouted the orders.
The ombudsman ordered the DSP Sadar Circle for necessary police assistance, the TMO TMA Khanewal to arrange necessary labour as well as machinery from TMA Khanewal and AC/Collector Khanewal to dispossess the illegal occupants without further delay. He ordered to submit a compliance report within a period of one month.
