A father of two was shot dead by unidentified persons when he was sleeping outside his house in the Green Town area on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Ahmad, hailed from Hujra Shah Muqeem and lived in a rented house in C/1 Green Town. He was asleep outside the house due to loadshedding when unidentified persons shot at and wounded him. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he died. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case.
Suicide: A 25-year-old man committed suicide by shooting himself in the Garhi Shahu area on Sunday. He was identified as Hassan of Pindi Nawazish Street, Garhi Shahu. Police said that Hassan had come to the house of his maternal aunt where he shot himself dead over an unknown issue. Police shifted the body to morgue.
found dead: An elder brother of an accused involved in the child abuse case of Kasur was found dead in Nishtar Colony police limits on Sunday. The victim, identified as Shafi-ur-Rehman, was the brother of Attiq-ur-Rehman, involved in the child abuse scandal. The family alleged that the victim, who had been arrested by the police a week back, was subjected to sever torture by police during the interrogation, resulting in his death. The family and relatives staged a protest demonstration on Ferozpur Road and chanted slogans against police. They alleged that police had painted the killing as a road accident and deposited the body to morgue. The protesters blocked Ferozpur Road and demanded the Punjab chief minister look into the matter and direct police to arrest accused involved in the murder.
Fire: Goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a foam store in Gulberg on Sunday. Cause of the fire was said to be short circuit. Upon being informed, firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire after hectic efforts. No casualty was reported.
Walk: National Highway and Motorway Police Central Zone organised a walk to mark Independence Day on National Highways at Maraka, Lahore. The walk was led by Zonal Commander Central Zone, SSP Masroor Alam Kalachi. A large number of students, citizens and Motorway police personnel participated in the walk.
Visit: The IG Prisons Lahore Region paid a surprise visit to Sheikhupura Jail and checked living and food arrangements for inmates. He also inquired about problems faced by jail inmates. He directed the jail superintendent to strengthen security.
Bikers arrested: Lahore police Sunday arrested at least 27 bike riders for performing stunts. Groups of one-wheelers performed stunts on Canal Road, Shalimar Link Road, GT Road, Bund Road, Jail Road and Lytton Road. Meanwhile, eight one-wheelers received injuries while performing stunts.
Robbers held: CIA police arrested six robbers and recovered the booty and weapons from their possession. The arrested accused, identified as Nawaz, Amjad, Riaz, Waheed, Jaffar and Ali Raza, have confessed to committing dozens of robberies in the city. Police seized bikes, electronic appliances and illegal weapons. The SSP Investigation has announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the police team.
PHP: PHP arrested 26 accused along with four proclaimed offenders. The proclaimed offenders included Zafar Iqbal, Khalid Mahmood, Bashir Ahmd and Ghulam Hussain. They were wanted by PS Housing Colony, Sheikhupura, PS Noshra Virkan, PS Umar Kot and PS Sadar Rajanpur. PHP also arrested a wanted criminal Hashim of PS Khtyala Sheikain. They arrested five criminals involved in highway robberies, six illicit arms carriers, eight drug pushers and two thieves.
