LAHORE
Dozens of Punjab University (PU) students, staging a rally on New Campus on Tuesday, demanded fair distribution of laptops among varsity students.
The rally, organised by Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT), started from PU Islamic Centre and culminated outside the vice-chancellor’s office where male and female students also staged a sit-in for a couple of hours and expressed strong concern over the alleged discriminatory process for the award of laptops among PU students.
Some PU officials held a dialogue with the protestors and informed them that the criterion for the award of laptops was not designed by the university but the federal Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Meanwhile in a press release, a spokesman for the university also said PU administration was not responsible for any problem in the laptops’ distribution.
