LAHORE
A seminar on “Protecting the Rights of Minorities for Creating a Peaceful Pakistani Society.” was held at Punjab University (PU) on Monday.
The seminar, organised by PU Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) in collaboration with the Centre for Peace and Development Initiative (CPDI), was aimed to create awareness among academia and students about the importance of protecting the rights of minorities in Pakistan.
The panelists shared their thought and elucidated how an inclusive society could create peace, stability, and social tranquility.
They were of the view that Pakistani society could drift towards intolerance and militancy if minorities were further marginalised. The panelists also underlined the importance of peaceful coexistence of all the segments of society for a healthy and vibrant social system.
The panelists consisted of Dean Faculty of Behavioural Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, Department of Archaeology, Chairman Prof Dr Farzand Masih, and ISCS Assistant Professor Dr Ahmed Usman while faculty members and a large number of students were also present.
