PUNJAB University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said the importance of books cannot be denied and the people, who are interested in finding the truth, love books.
He said this while addressing a one-day symposium on “Expanding Horizons for Information Professionals: Challenges for Education and Training Programms” organised by PU Department of Information Management (DIM) at Institute Administrative Sciences (IAS) on Thursday. Secretary Archive and Libraries Oriya Maqbool Jaan, Chairperson DIM Prof Dr Kanwal Amin, Dean Faculty of Behavioural Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakir, PU ASA President Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, librarians from various parts of country, faculty members, and a large number of students were present. In his address, Dr Mujahid Kamran said we must provide beautiful academic atmosphere in the libraries to attract people. Oriya Maqbool Jan said the libraries played an important role to spread the ray of knowledge in societies. He said that in the past people used to take admissions in academic institutions to seek knowledge but now students just wanted degrees. Prof Dr Zakria Zakir said that nations could not develop unless they focus on education.
