WWF-Pakistan organised a pre-launch ceremony for Earth Hour 2015 at a local school.
According to a press statement issued on Wednesday, the event was attended by more than 500 students, who pledged for a greener planet.
Sania Rauf Khan, Senior Manager WWF-Pakistan said this year’s theme of Earth Hour is ‘Use Your Power to Change Climate Change”, saying that we should not forget that according to by German Watch Institute’s Climate Risk Index for the last three years, Pakistan has ranked in the top three countries most affected by climate change. She said it is extremely important that we fight climate change by reducing carbon emissions and becoming environmentally aware.
Musician Ali Noor said that Earth Hour has brought the whole world together for a common cause.
The statement said many corporate organizations have collaborated with WWF-Pakistan for Earth Hour 2015, which will be observed on March 28, 2015 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in more than 172 countries and territories including Pakistan.
In 2014, Earth Hour engaged individuals, businesses and organizations in over 7,000 cities and 162 countries and territories during the hour and beyond.
In 2015, Earth Hour aims to harness the power of its millions of supporters worldwide to change climate change.
