Five uplift schemes approved

THE Punjab government has approved five development schemes of various sectors with an estimated cost of Rs12.8 billion. These schemes were approved in the 34th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2014-15 held here Wednesday. According to a handout issued here, Provincial Secretary P&D Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, members of planning and development board, provincial secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant departments also attended the meeting.
According to P&D spokesman, the approved development schemes are construction of Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Block at BV Hospital Bahawalpur (revised) at cost of Rs1.5 billion, construction of THQ Hospital Sarai Alamgir, District Gujrat at cost of Rs229.497 million, integrated Reproductive Maternal Newborn & Child Health (RMNCH) & Nutrition Programme at cost of Rs9.2 billion, construction of flood embankments and protection works along left and right bank of River Indus for Bridge near Miranpur Linkage N-5 at Arbi Tibba with Rahimyar Khan Iqbalabad at the cost of Rs866.896 million and dualisation of Lahore-Faisalabad-Jhang-Bhakkar Road at cost of Rs1.1 billion.
