LAHORE
THE Lahore High Court has issued contempt notice to Punjab Secretary Finance Muhammad Yousaf Khan for non-payment of arrears of 50 percent judicial allowance and 50 percent ad hoc relief to the employees of the Lahore High Court.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of LHC heard the case for payment of arrears of 50 percent judicial allowance and 50 percent ad hoc relief. The counsel for the petitioners told the court that the Punjab government had not paid the arrears of 50 percent judicial allowance with effect from July 01, 2010 despite the orders of this court.
The secretary finance had submitted that the Punjab government had challenged the LHC order in the Supreme Court of Pakistan which will be heard on 15 January. Justice Shah asked him if the SC had granted any stay order in this regard. At this, the secretary said ‘no’. The judge termed the reply of the secretary unsatisfactory and issued him contempt of court notice.
