Target killers claimed two lives in the city on Tuesday.
The first victim was 35-year-old Ijaz who was shot dead in Sector 11-C of North Karachi by two gunmen riding a motorcycle. Area people took him to the Civil Hospital Karachi, however, he breathed his last on the way.
A police official claimed that it was a targeted killing and empty casings of a 9MM pistol were found on the spot. The second incident took place near the Karimabad Flyover, where 30-year-old Rehan Sultan was killed by unidentified gunmen.
Azizabad SHO Jamal Laghari told The News that the deceased was a carpenter who lived in Jahangirabad, Golimar. He said the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post-mortem and added that the murder was most likely a target killing incident.
Robber killed
An alleged bandit was gunned down and his accomplice was injured in an encounter in the Sharea Faisal police limits.
According to a police official, two policemen patrolling on a motorcycle came across a snatching incident near the FIA Crime Circle Office in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block-14.
As the officers approached the crime scene, the robbers opened fire and, in the ensuing shootout, one of the suspects was shot dead and the other injured.
They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and, according to police, the injured identified himself as 25-year-old Danish.
Snatched mobile phones, a motorcycle and two TT pistols were found in the robbers' possession.
