Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar on Thursday announced that a new phase of the ongoing polio vaccination drive will commence in the city from October 7.
In the latest phase, a total of 1,016,499 children under the age of five would be administered Oral Polio Vaccine Drops.
The campaign will be launched in 80 union councils of six districts and 2,795 teams will be deployed.
The campaign aims to cover 153,548 children in Central District; 219,143 children in Malir District; 472,927 children in District West; 7,965 children in District South; 55,719 children in District East and 107,197 children in District East.
After completion of the drive in Karachi, a similar campaign would be conducted in 14 districts of interior Sindh with a target of 4,053,238 children in 644 union councils. The tentative dates for that phase will be October 12 to October 15.
