The Society for Advancement of Health, Education and Environment (SAHEE) on Wednesday organised the screening of the 1998 biopic, Jinnah, at various cinemas across the city for students aged 12-16.
The project arranged with a view to sensitise students with respect to Jinnah’s values of modernity and tolerance as well as the socio-political realities which led to the inevitable 1947 partition, was attended by over 800 students from both the private and public sectors, on the first day of the four-day event.
Following the screening students were engaged in a small but lively discussion with speakers, of backgrounds as diverse as literature, journalism and education, regarding their perspective of the historical events which culminated in the inception of Pakistan; a question and answers session was also held.
The film has recently been revived by Dehalvi Productions, and highlights the tolerant and all-inclusive society which the Quaid-e-Azam envisaged.
SAHEE , a local NGO, has been actively working in the field of social betterment since 1996 on several social issues such as education, drug awareness, corrections and values and ethics.
