A competition to identify teachers using low-cost innovative methods in class was introduced at a ceremony on Tuesday.
The innovative teaching methodologies would then be compiled into a guidebook and made accessible to teachers across Pakistan.
Titled ‘Taleemi Jiddat ki Talaash’, the competition would be organised by Aman Foundation’s Teach for Pakistan (TFP) in collaboration with Ilm Ideas — an educational project funded by the UK Department for International Development.
The test claimed as the first of its kind in Pakistan would include schools all over Pakistan. Teachers can apply for online registration via post from January 27 till February 27.
TFP CEO Noorulain Masood said the shortlisted candidates would be awarded prizes to be split between the winning teachers and their respective schools.
He stated: “The goal of the competition is to encourage teachers throughout the country to get creative and submit their best and most innovative in-class practices, so we can share them with their colleagues and educationists nationwide.”
Ilm Ideas representative Zehra Zaid mentioned that the three-year programme would award grants to increase access to quality education in Pakistan for children of grades 1–10.
Shazia Kamal of The Citizens Foundation briefed the audience regarding the competition through a multimedia presentation.
Local representatives of the United Nations Development Programme among others also attended the ceremony.
