PR Police get illegally occupied quarters vacated
MIRPURKHAS: During an operation against illegal possession of railways quarters at Mirpurkhas, Inspector of Works, Railways along with a heavy contingent of railway police got vacated dozens of residential quarters from occupants on Wednesday.Railways police personnel cleared out the belongings of illegal occupants from the quarters and sealed them.

Iran hands over 28 deportees to Levies
CHAGHI: Iranian security forces handed over 28 Pakistani nationals to Levies force on Pak-Iran border in Taftan area of district.Levies force on Wednesday said that these workers were apprehended from different parts of Iran by Iranian Security forces as they were living there without valid travelling documents. Levies force added that these deportees would be handed over to FIA for further interrogation after completing initial inquiry.

10 held in raid on Pindi internet cafe
RAWALPINDI: City Police on Wednesday raided a cafe and arrested ten accused found involved in watching obscene contents.According to police spokesman, Waris Khan police acting on a tip-off conducted a raid at Sarhad Internet cafe in Chamanzar colony and netted Zahid, Amir, Mukhtar, Baber, Jameel, Waqar, Fahad, Waqas, Adnan and Khurram Shahzad as they were found involved in watching obscene films. Cases have been registered against accused under picture motion act and further investigation is underway.

KP social welfare official arrested

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission on Wednesday arrested Sardar Ali, an employee of Social Welfare Department, for his alleged involvement in taking bribe in appointments, corruption and misuse of authority.Official sources said it was the second arrest of the KP Ehtesab Commission as earlier it had arrested Noor Daraz, chief coordinator officer of Kohat District Council, who is the father of PTI MPA from Karak Gul Sahib Khattak on the charge of grabbing government land in Kohat. The official sources said the commission would produce the accused before the special court of Ehtesab Commission today.

PEC job fair in Peshawar

Teacher beats headmistress for transferring her

GUJRANWALA: A teacher beat the Government Girls High School Badaruddin headmistress for getting her transferred from the school. Fauzia Khanum had allegedly misbehaved with Headmistress Shahnaz sometime ago. To it, the headmistress got her transferred last month. On Wednesday, Fauzia came to the school and allegedly beat the headmistress. The accused teacher also took away the school record with her. The victim obtained a medico-legal certificate from a hospital. Police are investigating.

Pesco employees stage protest

CHARSADDA: The employees of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Wednesday took out a rally here against the proposed privatisation of the Wapda. Led by Hydro Union chairman Ikramullah Khan, the protesting employees, carrying banners and placards, gathered in Farooq Azam Chowk and chanted slogans against the federal government. Speaking on the occasion, Ikramullah Khan said that privitisation of the Wapda was a conspiracy against the country. They threatened to launch protest campaign across the province if the decision was not retracted.

Three cops booked for ‘illegal detention’

GUJRANWALA: On the orders of the CPO, Aroop police registered a case against its three policemen on the charge of keeping a man in illegal detention. In an application, Rana Shahzad alleged that ASI Abdur Rashid, Hawaldar Zakir and Constable Iftikhar had illegally arrested his brother Saadat and kept him in illegal detention. When contacted, Aroop police said that Saadat was still in the custody, facing the charge of armed looting.

KP govt employees hold protest

PESHAWAR: The employees of Public Health Engineering Workers Welfare Union Wednesday staged a protest against the PTI-led government for not upgrading their scales. Led by the union president Pir Gul Ali Shah, Muhammad Yousaf and others, they said the chief minister had promised to upgrade their scales but did not materialise his commitment despite the lapse of four months. They threatened to stage a sit-in outside the house of PTI chief Imran Khan in Islamabad if their demands were not met.

20 injured in Haripur accident

HARIPUR: Twenty persons, including women and children, were injured when a passenger bus and a truck collided in the limits of Hattar Police Station. Police said a bus was on its way to Haripur from Taxila when it collided with a truck, injuring twenty passengers including five minor children and seven women. Case has also been registered upon the application of an injured woman against the truck driver.

Child killed in Kohat grenade attack

KOHAT: A child was killed and her parents sustained injuries when unidentified persons lobbed a hand-grenade into a house in Muhammadzai area, police sources said on Wednesday.They said that unidentified persons threw a hand-grenade into the house of Zar Muhammad in Muhammadzai on the Kohat-Hangu road. As a result, Zar Muhammad and his wife sustained injuries while their daughter Shahmeela Jan was killed.

IT moot begins today in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: A three-day International information technology conference “Digital Youth Summit 2015” will start in the provincial capital today, (Thursday).The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board has organised the conference in collaboration with the World Bank and other partner organisations.
“The main objective of the conference is to bring together the next generation of digital innovator in Pakistan with primary focus on technology entrepreneurship including technology for social and civil innovation and also online work and freelancing,” said an official.
IT students from across the country and experts from Pakistan and abroad will participate in the conference. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will inaugurate the summit.
Nowshera Police arrest robbers, extortionists

NOWSHERA: The police busted gangs involved in kidnapping, extortions and robberies in the district, an official said on Wednesday.District Police Officer Rabnawaz Khan told reporters that the police during the crackdown arrested one Muhammad Waqar, who confessed to have committed several crimes. The official said that the accused provided names and location of his accomplices who were arrested during the raids on various places. The police arrested Nasir, Tasir Muhammad, Akhundzada, Sajjad, Sufaid and Aqil Khan and three others were still at large. The official said that the gang had been involved in robberies, kidnapping and extortions.
He said that the police also arrested Shafiullah, Abdur Rehman and Islam Khan for targeting a local traders who had refused to pay ransom. Rabnawaz Khan said that the group had contacts in Afghanistan and Bajaur Agency. They operate their network from the neighbouring country, he said.
IDPs refuse to vacate Togh Serai camp

HANGU: Refusing to vacate the Togh Serai camp, the displaced tribespeople from Orakzai and Kurram tribal regions Wednesday asked the government to purge their native areas of militants instead of shifting them to other camps. The decision was taken during a grand jirga of the elders belonging to Orakzai and Kurram in Togh Serai camp here. Prominent among the tribal elders attended the jirga included president of Muttahida Qabail Party Malik Habib Noor, Malik Jan Ameer, Malik Juma Gul, Malik Omar Gul, Mir Zaman, Malik Fazal Janan, Malik Said Malang and others. Malik Habib Noor said that official of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) had asked the IDPs to leave the camp, citing lack of resources to run the camp. He said the officials asked the IDPs from Orakzai Agency to shift to Jalozai Camp in Nowshera and displaced families from Kurram to Durrani Camp in Sadda. He asked the government to either repatriate the IDPs to the areas cleared of militants or allow them to stay in the Tough Serai camp. “We are not even willing to go to Hangu Bazaar let alone shifting to other camps,” he added. The elders warned to boycott the anti-polio drive and blocked the Parachinar-Kohat road if the government didn’t reverse the decision.

Demo staged against delay in construction of road

TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of traders and shopkeepers of Pirmahal on Wednesday blocked traffic for several hours on Faisalabad-Multan Road to protest against delay in construction of dual carriageway. The protesters were carrying placard and banners. They said that the project was launched at a cost of Rs 220 million some three months ago but the contractor disappeared after constructing some portion of the road. They said that the incomplete road project was affecting their business. On information, police reached the spot and arrested the traders’ leader Rana Akmal but the protesters started chanting slogans against police. After sometime, police released him.

KP IGP takes action against constable

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani has ordered deduction from the salary of a constable and departmental action against him. A press release issued here stated that the IGP issued the directives on the complaint of a citizen and resident of Chamkani against Constable Waqar Ali. The complainant alleged that the cop had taken Rs20,000 from him on the pretext to recruit him in the police force. The IGP issued the order in the light of an inquiry report in which the cop was found guilty.

Insaf lawyers seek appointments

PESHAWAR: The Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) on Wednesday expressed reservations over the appointment of law officers and advisors related to other political parties in various government departments. Addressing a press conference, ILF provincial president Qazi Muhammad Anwar, senior vice-president Saadullah Khan advocate and others asked the government to appoint law officers and advisors from Insaf Lawyers Forum or else they would stage a sit-in outside Provincial Assembly if their demand was not fulfilled.

Man killed in Takht Bhai

TAKHT BHAI: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a man in the limits of Lundkhwar Police Station on Wednesday, official sources said. Niaz Ali reported to the police that his brother Sabz Ali was irrigating piece of land in Mula Jan Killay early in the day when unidentified gunmen fired at him, killing him on the spot. The body was shifted to the hospital for autopsy and was handed over to the family members for burial.

Two minor girls die as wall collapses

NOWSHERA: Two minor girls were killed and four sustained injuries when the wall of a mud-house collapsed in Jalozai on Wednesday. Locals said the children were playing near the wall when it collapsed, killing two girls and injuring four others. The dead were identified as Bisma Gul and Jamila. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar.

Burnt woman dies in TT Singh

TOBA TEK SINGH: A woman, who suffered critical burns, died in hospital on Wednesday. The wife of Allah Rakha of Jinnah Colony suffered burns while cooking food and was rushed to Gojra THQ hospital. The doctors referred her to Faisalabad Allied hospital where she succumbed to her burns.
