Water supply connection for Bahria Town inaugurated
KARACHI: Ahmed Ali Riaz Malik has inaugurated water supply connection for Bahria Town on Tuesday.To ensure clean water supply to the residents of Bahria Town, two underground tanks with a capacity of 400,000 gallons and one overhead tank of 100,000 gallons are under construction.While briefing the media persons, he said that Bahria Town was trying to provide world-class facilities to its clients and we have started giving possession of plots to their owners in the time period of just eight months.Recently the Bahria Town signed a contract with K-Electric for uninterrupted power supply to Bahria Town.

Federal Film Censor Board reconstituted
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reconstituted the Federal Film Censor Board. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the new board will consist of six official and 12 unofficial members. Mubashir Hasan would be the chairman of the 18-member board and Najib Akram, Vice Chairman. Other members of the board are: Brig Furghanullah Khan Tareen, Farogh Ahmad, Brig Anwar Ahmad, Col Salahuddin, DIG Islamabad Sultan Azam Taimoori, Asad Hussain Malik (Cabinet Div), Nadim Akhtar Advocate, Jalal Hyder Khan, Tahir Khalil (Bureau Chief Daily Jang Islamabad), Akhtar Haq, Musaddiq Ahmad Shah (Sr Jt Secretary), Hamid Mir (A Pakistani-Japani trader), Former MPA Safina Saima Khar, Shuja-ur-Rehman Malik, Dr Arsalan Hyder, Tariq Mamood Khan (Ex-Dy Commissioner and chairman CDA) and Rehana Pervez.

17-year-old teacher gang-raped in Burewala

BUREWALA: A 17-year-old teacher was abducted and gang-raped here on Tuesday. Farah Iqbal of M-Block was going to a seminary to teach the Holy Quran to the children when two people, including Abdul Rauf, allegedly kidnapped her after giving her some sedative. The accused shifted the victim to an unknown place where they with their third accomplice again gave her some sedative and raped her. The victim was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where an initial medical report confirmed sexual assault on her. Model Town police have registered a case and started investigation.

Two brothers electrocuted

PAKPATTAN: Two brothers were electrocuted at Chak 38/SP on Monday night. Adnan (6) and Zohaib (8), sons of Ghulam Mohiuddin, were playing in their home when they accidentally touched naked wires of a water pump. As a result, both received electric shocks and died on the spot.
Two Afghans held in Lalamusa

LALAMUSA: City police on Tuesday arrested two Afghans for residing illegally. On a tip-off, the police raided and arrested Zahid Khan, s/o Muhammad Ashraf, and Sodagar Khan, s/o Sher Khan, from Chandni Chowk and Main Bazaar respectively. Both persons had no legal documents and were living illegally in Pakistan. The police have registered separate cases.

Families demand safe return of
11 Pakistanis stranded in Yemen

MULTAN: Families of 11 Pakistanis who are stranded in Yemen on Tuesday staged a demonstration against the delay in their return and demanded Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif order to send a special plane to ensure their return. The families said that no effort was being made to evacuate them safely. They criticised the closure of the Pakistan Embassy in Yemen. They demanded the government reopen the embassy and ensure availability of officials there. A woman said she had contacted her brother in Sanaa last Friday, but she did not know his whereabouts. Rashida Bibi, who had recently returned from Yemen, said that she tried to contact the Pakistan Embassy in Yemen but no one was there. She said that her husband Azam was still stranded in Yemen. She demanded the government take steps for the safe return of her husband.

PARACHINAR: Militants set free a tribesman after payment of Rs2 million ransom, a family member of the kidnapped man said on Tuesday. Ali Afzal was kidnapped from Shehr Nau area near the Afghan border and was shifted to Afghanistan. Kamal Hussain, uncle of Ali Afzal, said that the militants had demanded Rs2 million as ransom for his safe release. “They freed Ali Afzal after the family paid the ransom amount of Rs2 million,” he claimed.

Man commits suicide after killing wife

KASUR: A man committed suicide after killing his wife and injuring his daughter over a domestic dispute at Rosa Bheel near Kot Radha Kishan on Tuesday. Liaqat Ali had quarrelled with his wife Zareena Bibi over a domestic issue. In a fit of rage, Liaqat Ali allegedly axed his wife to death and injured his daughter Sundas. Later, the accused ended his life by hanging himself with a rope. Police have shifted the bodies to a hospital for autopsy and started investigation.

Man kills daughter for ‘honour’

KASUR: A man on Tuesday shot dead his daughter and injured her husband apparently to ‘preserve his honour’ in village Sherpur in the limits of Phoolnagar police station. Nageena Bibi contracted marriage with Usman against the wishes of her family. Rafique, the father of Nageena, his son Mujahid and three accomplices entered the house of Usman and started indiscriminate firing, leaving Nageena dead on the spot and Usman injured. He was rushed to the RHQ Pattoki in critical condition.

Two Nigerian women held with heroin

SIALKOT: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Tuesday foiled a bid to smuggle heroin worth millions of rupees by arresting two Nigerian women at the Sialkot International Airport. The Nigerian women -- Sandra and Numako -- were travelling to Muscat from Sialkot when the ANF held them during special scanning. The team recovered 36 heroin-filled capsules from their stomachs. Further investigation is under way.

Two kidnappers held in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday arrested two alleged kidnappers and recovered 800 grams of explosives from them. A press release of the CTD said the force arrested two alleged kidnappers, Muhammad Hanif and Mohammad Ayaz involved in kidnapping people for ransom and using the money in acts of terrorism. The cops also recovered 800 grams of explosives from them.

619 more families return to SWA

TANK: The 12th phase of the return process of the IDPs to South Waziristan Agency (SWA) concluded on Tuesday as 619 more families left for their homes. Around 4,821 families were sent home in Sarwakai and Sararogha Tehsils during the process which was initiated on March 16.The political administration and security forces had made arrangements for the returning IDPs at the Kor Fort.
