SUKKUR: A local leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Thul forced his farmer to sell his three daughters in settlement of payment due to him.The incident took place in Garhi village near Thul, when a member of the PPP Sindh Council, Imdad Ali sold out three daughters of his farmer Kadar Bakhsh to pay the fine of Rs1.1 million imposed on him by Jirga. Fourteen-year-old Noor Banu, eight-year-old Kaz Banu and two-year-old Zameeran were sold to Sultan and Abdul Hameed for Rs0.5 million, whereas the parents were also beaten up by the PPP leader over resistance.

Girl gang raped, burnt to death
SUKKUR: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped and burnt to death in Dahariki, a city of Ghotki district last week. Reports said the victim’s mother was also severely injured and gained consciousness on Monday. The victim and her mother stitched and sold sheets for a living and were asked by three men as they wanted to purchase their sheets. The men offered tea to them. The girl was drugged after taking tea and then the three men allegedly set her on fire after raping her, the the victim’s 40-year-old mother said. The victim’s brother filed a petition at the Ghotki Sessions Court. --Correspondent

Black warrants of five prisoners issued in Balochistan
QUETTA The death warrants of five death row prisoners in Central Prison Machh have been issued, here on Monday after the President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain has rejected their appeals for mercy.Officials in the Home Department, Government of Balochistan said that death warrants of five death row prisoners have been issued. The black warrants issued for five death row prisoners including Ali Gul, Miro, Hamza, Zaman and Muhammad Ismail, they said.They said that Superintendant, Machh Central Jail has received the death warrants of these five prisoners and the date for the execution would be set on Tuesday and it is likely that they would be hanged within in a week.

‘Delay in LB polls affecting people’

CHAKWAL: Former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Monday said local bodies elections must be held as delay in polls have increased problems of the people. Talking to reporters after attending the final of shooting ball tournament held at village Hastal, he said all funds for Chakwal-Mandra road and Chakwal-Sohawa road were released during his time, but work on these projects was very slow and it was causing great hardships to the locals. He said these projects must have been completed two years ago. To a question, he said the PPP was target during the 2013 polls, especially in Punjab it was not allowed to show strength, saying that it would perform in a more better way in the coming LB polls. Raja was accorded a rousing welcome when he reached village Hastal.

Tyres worth lakhs of rupees gutted

LAHORE: Tyres worth lakhs of rupees were burnt when a fire erupted at a three-storey building in the Faisal Town police limits on Monday. Firefighters controlled the fire after hectic efforts which continued for over five hours. The fire broke out at the tyre showroom owned by one Husnain Shehryar due to short circuit during thunderstorm. Eight fire tenders reached the scene soon and started operation. Huge flames and smoke billowed into the sky. The nearby petrol pump and electricity supply was suspended to avoid further loss. The incident also created panic in the locality. The ambulances of the Rescue 1122 and Edhi Foundation also reached there to meet any kind of emergency. No loss of life or injury was reported. According to the owner of showroom, the tyres worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes.

Kohat police say two militants arrested

KOHAT: The police arrested two militants and claimed recovering a time bomb from them on Monday, official sources said. The sources said the police had received information about the presence of suspected persons at a house in Ustarzai. A police party raided the house, recovered a time bomb during the search, and arrested one Syed Amin Hussain. During interrogation Amin Hussain disclosed the name and location of his accomplice, Syed Amin Jan, who was also arrested.
Police kill alleged attacker in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: An alleged attacker was killed in the limits of Paharipura Police Station after he reportedly opened fire on policemen late Sunday night. The police said armed attackers opened fire on a police patrolling car in Paharipura and the policemen also retaliated. During the exchange of fire, one person was killed while others managed to escape. The slain man was later identified as Mamoor from Pakha Ghulam wanted by police in a few incidents. Relatives of the deceased later staged protest demonstration outside the Paharipura Police Station against the killing. They demanded the authorities to probe the killing impartially.

Old enmity claims life in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: One man was shot dead and two others suffered bullet injuries over an old enmity on Monday. Panoo Khan and his two companions were coming back from a reconciliation meeting held in Marri Chakoka in the area of PS Minchinabad on Sunday night. Their rivals attacked them, leaving Panoo dead on the spot, and Ashraf and Bagh Ali injured. Who were rushed to DHQ Bahawalnagar.

SSP Multan warns of sealing banks set up in small buildings

Young doctors go on strike in Punjab from today

FAISALABAD: Young doctors will go on strike for an indefinite period in the province from today, said Young Doctors Association president Dr Maroof Akhtar. In a statement here on Monday, he said that the government had failed to implement the decision for providing service structure for the last three years. He said that the Young Doctors Association’s talks with the government for increase in salaries and free tests and supply of medicines to the poor patients had failed. Hence, there was no alternative but to observe the strike.

Four of a family killed in dumper-car collision

FAISALABAD: Four members of a family were killed and five others injured in a collision between a dumper and a car near Burjian on Chiniot-Lahore Road on Monday. A family of Kehror Pacca, Lodhran, was on its way when a dumper collided with their car. As a result, Muhammad Nawaz, his daughter Anam, son Shahzeb and brother Fayyaz Ahmad were killed on the spot while five others were injured. The injured people were shifted to the Chiniot Civil Hospital. Police are investigating.

Coal contractor killed in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A coal contractor was killed by unidentified people here on Sunday night. Tahir Ahmad, a coal contractor of a mill, was on his way when the unidentified people shot him dead. Nishatabad police have registered a case and started investigation. In another incident, ASI Ghulam Mohiuddin and driver Ashan of Thikriwala police station were injured when a speeding truck hit their van. They were shifted to the Allied Hospital. Police have arrested truck driver Alam Din and registered a case.

Compressor blast kills dental technician

BUREWALA: A dental technician was killed and three others sustained injuries when an air compressor exploded in the clinic at H-Block, behind Markazi imambargah on Monday morning.Technician Muhammad Akram, of Chak 327/EB, his son Muhammad Mumtaz and brother Muhammad Mansha were present in the clinic when the compressor exploded, leaving Akram dead on the spot and Muhammad Mumtaz, Muhammad Mansha and Ashiq Hussain, of Chak 461/EB injured. The injured were shifted to THQ hospital, Burewala.

Dacoit killed in encounter

KASUR: A dacoit was killed in an encounter with Phoolnagar police near Jambar on Monday. Six dacoits were robbing people of cash and valuables on Multan Road near Khan Kay Morr, Jambar, when a police party led by SHO Muhammad Ayub reached the spot while patrolling the area. On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, one of the six dacoits was killed on the spot while the others fled. However, according to DPO Rai Babar Saeed, the dacoit was killed by the firing of his accomplices. The killed dacoit was later identified as Azam alias Ajju. He was wanted by police in several cases.

Human trafficker held in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: FIA Inspector Shahid Pervaiz Monday raided a locality and arrested a notorious human trafficker. The FIA team, constituted by FIA Deputy Director (Gujranwala) Malak Sikandar, arrested human trafficker Umar Farooq, son of Ghulam Nabi, of Jamke Chatha from Alam Chowk area. The accused was wanted by the FIA in several cases of human trafficking. Recently he illegally sent Faizan, Tariq, Bilal, Usman and Zaman, of Chak Bahlol to Turkey via Iran. The FIA team is interrogating.

Seven-year-old girl raped in Kasur

KASUR: A seven-year-old girl was raped by a vagabond at Hanjrai Kalan in the limits of police station Sarai Mughal. (Z) went to fields along with her uncle Naseer Ahmad to get fodder. Her uncle was busy in cutting feeder when a vagabond Jafer, 22, took her to another field and raped her. Police has arrested the accused.
