ISLAMABAD: The outgoing EU Ambassador Lars Gunnar Wigemark paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar here on Friday. The minister lauded the role played by the EU ambassador in furthering Pak-EU cooperation, particularly mentioning grant of GSP plus status to Pakistan by the EU Parliament.
Dar briefed the outgoing envoy about the consensus reached between the PML-N and the PTI on March 20 to move forward with formation of the Judicial Commission. Wigemark praised the efforts and persistent engagement of Finance Minister Dar with the PTI leadership in reaching this consensus. The ambassador also congratulated the finance minister that due to active policy measures taken by the government, mainly spearheaded by the Finance Ministry to curb terrorist financing and due to spirited anti-money laundering drive, Pakistan had been taken off the grey list of the FATF. The minister said that it was all a team effort and the resolve of the PML-N government that enabled us to exit the grey list and enter the white category. The minister at the conclusion of the meeting wished Wigemark all success in his future engagements.
