LARKANA: A severe cold wave gripped Larkana, Kamber-Shahdadkot districts and adjoining towns since Tuesday evening with the start of light rain.The wet spell soaked the roads and streets, especially of low lying areas of Larkana, Kamber, Shahdadkot, Ratodero, Dokri, Mirokhan, creating inconvenience for the people.Patches of clouds, light rain and winds enhanced chill in the weather.The traffic also remained disturbed. The lowering of visibility affected traffic on the roads.

Cop injures himself
QUETTA: A police constable sustained injuries in firing opened by himself in Satellite Town area, here on Tuesday evening.Police said that a constable was deployed on official duty in Satellite Town area, during that time, he opened fire at himself, receiving injuries.The injured was taken to Civil Hospital.The police have been investigation into the incident.

Four students among six killed in Kot Addu accident

MUZAFFARGARH: Six people, including four students and a female teacher, were killed and eight others injured in a collision between two vans at Kot Addu on Tuesday. A van carrying students and teachers was going to a school when another van collided with it due to overspeeding. As a result, school van driver Taimoor, teacher Aalia Hassan, 15-year-old Fasihur Rehman, 12-year-old Sehrish, seven-year-old Abdul Wasay and an unidentified student were killed on the spot while eight others were injured. The killed and injured students were children of the KAPCO employees. ‘Police have registered a case and started investigation.

Two militants arrested in Kurram Agency

PARACHINAR: The security forces arrested two militants in lower parts of Kurram Agency on Tuesday, said an official. Political Agent Amjad Ali Khan said that the two militants were arrested during a raid in Khafyanga village as operation continuing in the lower parts of the Kurram tribal region. The two militants were identified as Abid and Ismail affiliated with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The arrested militants were shifted to an undisclosed location for an interrogation.

60 Afghans held in Hangu

HANGU: The police claimed to have arrested 60 Afghan nationals and 20 suspected persons in crackdown here on Tuesday. Talking to reporters, District Police Officer (DPO) Anwar Saeed Kundi said that the police along with the personnel of law-enforcement agencies raided various camps and localities in the Thall, Doaba and Hangu town and arrested 60 Afghan nationals for having no legal documents. He said that 20 suspected persons were also rounded up and shifted to police stations for interrogation. “The operation against the illegal Afghan nationals would continue until the next directives by the provincial government,” the DPS said.

Man killed in Shangla accident

BISHAM: A man was killed and three others sustained injuries when a tractor fell into a ravine in Shangla district on Tuesday, sources said. They said that a tractor was on its way to Baseey village from Baily Baba when it fell into a ravine. As a result, four persons were injured who were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Alpuri where Zahirullah succumbed to his injuries. The injured were identified as Rafiullah, a driver, Ikramullah and Amanullah.

Two kidnapped in Hangu

HANGU: Unidentified gunmen kidnapped two persons in Doaba area on Monday night, police said. They said that armed men kidnapped two persons identified as Abdul Mabood and Jasad Khan after ‘Isha’ prayers in Naryab. Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the security forces checkpost in Naryab Shnawarai area but it caused no loss of life.

Severing of ties with France demanded

LAHORE: The Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) on Tuesday took out a massive rally at Punjab University (PU) New Campus against the recent publication of blasphemous caricatures and demanded the government to end diplomatic and economic ties with France. The rally attended by a large number of male and female students started from the varsity’s Islamic Centre and culminated at the Faisal Auditorium. At the end of the rally, a joint resolution was also passed which demanded the government to immediately end every kind of import and export business with France.

PO killed in Bahawalnagar encounter

BAHAWALPUR: A proclaimed offender was killed in an encounter with the Bahawalnagar’s Takhat Mahal police on Tuesday. A spokesman for the police said that Zafar alias Zafri was wanted in dozens cases of dacoity and murder by Bahawalnagar police. He said that Zafri’s three accomplices managed to escape.

Girl shot dead in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: A girl was shot dead over a petty issue in Jehangira town on Tuesday, police sources said. Shamtari Bibi reported to the police that her daughter was making breakfast in the kitchen early in the day when one Waqas allegedly shot her dead. The motive behind the murder was stated to be a matrimonial issue.

Five injured

PESHAWAR: Five persons, including two women and two children, were wounded in firing near Technical College on Kohat Road Tuesday evening. Police said the gunmen and relatives of a former NA-4 candidate Misbahuddin, allegedly exchanged harsh words with neighbours after which the guards started firing, injuring two women and two children belonging to the rivals. Another local, who was trying to settle the dispute between the two groups, was also wounded in the firing.


SUKKUR: Six people including a woman and two children were killed in different incidents in Sukkur region on Tuesday. Sources said that in Bhoral Mirani village in Kandhkot accused SonoMirani shot dead hiswife Sahib Khatoon over alleged charge of illicit relations. Separately, in Gabool village ofMirpurMathello, the roof of the house of Soomar Gabool caved in. Sajjad 8, and Khalida 5, were killed on spot. In another incident, unidentified armed men shot dead Ali Bakhash in the limits of Lalo Rank. Police said that in Shikarpur in the collision a young boy was killed in a head-on collision of two bikes.
