ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, on Tuesday wrote a letter to the head of the party’s election tribunal Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmad not to issue orders, reminding him the tribunal had already been dissolved. He requested Justice Wajih that there should be no moreissuance of orders by the election tribunal that stood dissolved after it exhausted its one-point agenda of dealing with the PTI election petitions.
Imran reminded Justice Wajih that the PTI was the only party that had conducted intra-party election and then he as party chairman, constituted an election tribunal, headed by him.The PTI chief maintained that the tribunal’s order was accepted and it was decided that intra-party election would be held afresh but the tribunal despite its dissolution, continued with issuance of orders that was beyond of its mandate.
Imran said he had so much regard for Justice Wajih but no one could be allowed to go beyond the limits and mandate. The PTI chairman vowed in the letter to continue taking measures to avert damage to the party.
It will be very interesting to see how Justice Wajih reacts to the letter, as his known position on the tribunal is that until the orders, his tribunal passed were implemented, it would continue to function.
