Asif Ali appointed Controller General of Accounts

Directs officials to ensure fair dealing and to make no compromise on any irregularity

ISLAMABAD: Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) Asif Ali has been appointed as Controller General of Accounts (CGA).
He has assumed the new office which is the highest office of accounting in the country.Asif Ali, who is senior most officer of Accounts Group and was promoted to Grade-22 early this year by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is viewed as a competent, hardworking and dedicated officer.
He has asked the officers of his establishment to ensure fair dealing and make no compromise on any irregularity.Asif Ali served as the AGPR for about three years and streamlined the working of the department. The office is the premier accounting office of the government tasked with producing timely and accurate financial statements of the federation.
The office achieves this task through dedicated human resources, massive investment infrastructure and strict quality control by the senior officers.Asif Ali has impressed upon his new department to act impartially without any prejudice while dealing with the accounting entities.
He reminded that financial statements and reports fully reflect the principles of New Accounting Model and effective internal financial controls in government departments should be established.
Asif Ali said his office would participate fully with its constituent bodies and other government organizations in its areas of responsibility. This implies providing guidelines and advice after consultation with them, on the preparation of accounts and devising system of accounts for new schemes and programs.
“The CG office would conduct professionally and assertively in the course of accomplishing its mission and objectives,” the new controller general added. Meanwhile, the government has asked Asif Ali to retain the office of AGPR till new arrangements are made.
