KARACHI: The mother of Khalid Hussain, Sports Editor, The News, Karachi, passed away on Tuesday after a protracted illness. Mrs Nasreen Manzoor was buried at the PECHS graveyard after Isha prayers. A large number of mourners attended the funeral. She is survived by her husband senior journalist Manzoor Hussain, four sons and a daughter. Her soyem will be held between Zuhr and Asr prayers today (Wednesday) at the Alfalah Masjid, PECHS, Block 2.

Passing-out parade of 120 recruits held

MANSEHRA: The 29th passing out parade of police training school was held here on Tuesday.The 120 recruits of Mansehra, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Tank, Laki Marwat, Bannu districts and FRP Headquarters, Peshawar, were passed out after they completed their one-year training in modern arms and other disciplines.Speaking on the occasion, Additional Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Qudratullah Marwat said that in view of the ongoing terrorism in the province, the modem techniques and skills were being incorporated in the police training manual.

Ansar Abbasi’s brother passes away
ISLAMABAD: Ijaz Ahmad Abbasi, renowned political and social personality of Murree and elder brother of Editor Investigations of The News Ansar Abbasi passed away after a heart attack Tuesday night. He was 58. He was eldest son of Haji Muhammad Sajawal Abbasi (Late). He left behind a widow, three sons and a daughter. His Nimaz-e-Jinaza will be offered at 1:00 pm at his ancestral village Illiyot near Bhoorban, Murree.

Two brothers get life imprisonment in murder case

TOBA TEK SINGH: Kamalia Additional District and Sessions judge Sardar Iqbal Dogar Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to two brothers in a murder case. The judge also fined Rs 200,000 each to Asalm and Zahoor. The court acquitted three co-accused Shakoor, Iftikhar and Ghulam Rasool as the prosecution failed to prove charges against them. They had shot dead Zafar Hussain two years ago over an old enmity in Chak 765/GB.
