ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal, has evacuated 95 Pakistanis by PAF C-130 aircrafts in two batches.
First batch of 35 Pakistanis was evacuated on April 26 and the second carrying 60 passengers was evacuated on April 28, official sources said.A strong earthquake of 7.9 magnitude hit Nepal last Saturdayfollowed by many powerful aftershocks causing heavy loss of life and property.
The Pakistan government quickly announced to provide relief goods and two sorties of PAF aircraft C-130 rushed to Kathmandu Nepal on Sunday while the other two landed there on Tuesday with rescue equipment, relief goods, doctors, field hospitals, medicines and food items.
Pakistan’s Embassy in Kathmandu extended full cooperation to Pakistani community of 80 persons and family members of embassy personnel. They were provided light refreshments and meal, and arrangements for their night stay were also made.
Moreover, the embassy with reference to Prakash Kumar Suvedi, Joint Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kathmandu designated as Coordinator, International Relief Assistant (Cell No: 00977-9801071297), informed that Pakistani private NGOs intending to participate in rehabilitation work for earthquake affectees have to adopt a procedure.
