Coronavirus threat: Tableeghi Jamaat members’ movement restricted
MULTAN: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wasim Ahmed Khan Wednesday strictly restricted movement of Tableeghi Jamaat members from one district to another. According to police, the RPO ordered the Multan City Police Officer (CPO) and the District Police Officers (DPOs) of Lodhran, Khanewal and Vehari to ensure implementation on section 144 strictly.
The police are directed to ensure closure of shops, trade centres at 5pm and combat pillion riding at any cost. The police are also directed to restrict movement of Tableeghi Jamaat members and confine them in one district. The RPO asked the police not to restrict transportation of goods on roads. The DPOs are asked along with elected representatives to launch awareness campaigns about coronavirus. The RPO directed police to keep all lock-ups empty except in urgent issues. Meanwhile, Commissioner Shanul Haq notified reopening of post offices to accommodate pensioners. All the post offices would remain open from 9am to 2pm. The notification also exempted postmen from pillion riding.
