PIC stops medicines provision to OPD patients
LAHORE: The Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has stopped provision of medicines to heart patients at the Out-Patients Department (OPD) due to coronavirus threat.
The PIC administration has taken the decision to minimise rush of patients at the outdoor ward. “The decision is taken in light of heart patients’ vulnerability to contract coronavirus,” said Prof Dr Saqib Shafi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PIC, in a statement on Wednesday. However, he assured that the hospital management would dispatch the medicines through post to the heart patients at their homes.
He advised registered heart patients not to visit the hospital outdoor ward and instead receive their medicines at their homes. “Although it will cost the PIC administration more, the management took the decision in the best interest of the heart patients,” he added.
