Verification confusion

By our correspondents
November 28, 2015
Those who hold valid arms licences are confused by the somewhat vague announcement made by the interior minister recently regarding the deadline for the verification of all arms licences not being extended beyond December 31. The confusion pertains to the procedure for the verification of those arms licences that were issued by the provinces other than the province where a person now lives in.
Take the example of an arms licence that was issued in Peshawar to a person who has been living in Rawalpindi for the last few years, where his licence has been documented at a local post office and where he has paid his renewal fee regularly. Where can he get his licence verified from – the place of the issuing authority or the city where he now resides? The interior minister or the Punjab home department should clarify the procedure for the renewal/verification of such arms licences.
