LHWs protest

This refers to the news report, ‘LHWs protest on roads seeking release of 3-month salary’ (September 1). Lady Health Workers had come from all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the provincial capital to protest non-payment of their salaries. One would have expected better treatment from the provincial government, since the PTI has been promising us a ‘Naya Pakistan’. Two years should be enough time to introduce good governance.
What happened to the money that was approved for LHWs in the KP budget? Was it diverted to pay for some other KP employees or to build some big project? Can you expect people to put in their best when they have not been paid in three months? What happened to the Islamic injunction that a labourer should be paid for his work before his sweat dries? It would be advisable for the PTI leadership to attend to such matters rather than putting their energy behind dharnas.
