The roaring floodwater is swallowing poor people and their sources of livelihood – standing crops, livestock, etc, in upper parts of the country and Punjab. But it is surprising that even after the havoc of the super flood in 2010 the government did not take any preventive measures.
Now as the floodwaters are heading towards Sindh the provincial government has to tell people what steps it has taken to ward off a 2010-like situation, the wounds of which have still not healed. But if the Sindh government fails again it would be a criminal negligence the consequences of which the people of Sindh will bear for a long to come before another flood engulfs them.
