This refers to the news story, ‘Resolution satisfies Khursheed, surprises Fazl’ (April 13). According to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, “The Sharif brothers had individual ties with (the) Saudi Arabian leadership and in view of these relations he did not expect such a resolution of parliament.”
This is indeed a strange statement coming from a senior politician. Parliament exercises sovereignty delegated to it by the people of Pakistan. It is not a consultative body for the ‘Sharif brothers’. Pakistan is not a kingdom; it is the people of Pakistan whose will must count.
