Pakistan is facing an economic downturn, law and order situation, diplomatic failure, power, gas and fuel shortages, etc, because of a dearth of honest and astute leaders. There is not a single politician in the country with the requisite leadership attributes to lead the nation. There is complete power vacuum and no one seems to be in charge of the state’s affairs, with the exception of the armed forces who are doing their job diligently.
How can the nation come out of this mess when we have a system of governance that is subservient to corruption, incompetence, mismanagement and at the mercy of two self-serving parties – the PML-N and PPP? Imran Khan’s PTI had emerged as a possible ray of hope but it has fallen to the same political culture. The PTI, following the December 16 attack on the Peshawar Army Public School, has suffered enormously because its leadership is considered to be Taliban apologists. Moreover, the party has failed to convert its sit-ins into a mass movement against corruption and other ills afflicting the country. Political analysts and pundits have been putting forward a number of solutions, such as formation of an interim technocratic government to set things right. But the big question is: how will such a setup be installed?

Fuel in a bottle
Ogra has asked petrol stations to refuse petrol to people who ask for petrol in bottles or cans. There must be some good reason for the move but what about those stranded on the road because their vehicles ran out of fuel?
Ogra is requested to permit petrol stations to entertain people who request petrol in bottles or cans after noting down their CNIC numbers.
