PPP says release of Shahbaz ‘positive step’
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Friday termed the release of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif on bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC) a positive step and hoped that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will also get a relief with permission for his medical treatment abroad.
“We are ready to face accountability, but it should not be selected. We have firm belief that we will get justice through the courts of law,” said Sindh Minister for Works and Services Syed Nasir Shah while addressing a press conference here Friday along with Media Coordinator of the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Nasir Shah reiterated that the PPP will not allow anyone to roll back the 18th amendment and will resist any such move. He said the former chief justice in his verbal orders asked to delete the name of Bilawal and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah from the report of the JIT, but it was not reflected in the written orders.
The provincial minister said the PPP government was the most stable provincial government that has the strength of 99 members in comparison with the other provincial governments of the PTI in Punjab and federal government. He said the PTI ministers were busy in diverting the attention of the people from the real issue of price hike.
“Those who claim to break the bagging bowl are now busy in begging around the world with the begging bowl,” he said. Nasir Shah termed the JIT report fabricated and said that such reports were made only for character assassination of the PPP leadership.
