Public library planned in F-10 Markaz
Islamabad
In a bid to revive the fading habit of book reading among Islooites, especially youths, the Capital Administration and Development Division has planned to establish a modern public library in F-10 Markaz.
However, the plan’s execution is linked to the allocation of funds in the next fiscal.
According to a CADD official in the know, the library to be established at the cost of around Rs380 million will have 40,000 books, local and foreign newspapers and magazines and journals, and modern facilities like video and audio databases for readers.
However, the number of books will be increased to 100,000 afterwards.
The library to be named after legendary poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz is likely to be linked to international libraries online giving visitors an access to a wide range of the latest books and reading materials. Under the plan, the proposed premises, for which the land has already been allotted, will also have a hall to host literary, educational and social events.
