IHC issues notices in hotel purchase case
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued notices to Mian Mansha, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and others in the case regarding money transfer to offshore accounts and purchase of a hotel in London allegedly by Mian Mansha group. The court sought reply from them within two weeks. A two-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani took up the case for hearing on Monday. -
Cop, four dacoits die in Shikarpur encounter

JACOBABAD: Four dacoits and a police constable were killed in an encounter in Shikarpur on Monday. Senior Superintendent of Police Shikarpur Nasir Aftab told The News that on an information that notorious dacoit Yaqoob Teghani along with his gang is hiding in kacha area, Ghari Tagho, police cordoned off the area and started search operation. The dacoits opened fire on the police and an encounter took place. As a result, four dacoits and Constable Ali Gohar Mahar were killed. One of the four killed dacoits was identified as Mithal Taghani. Police shifted the bodies and the injured to the Civil Hospital.
Four die in blast caused by gas leakage

MARDAN: Four employees of a private company died and two others suffered burn injuries in a blast caused by gas leakage in the Sheikh Maltoon Town here on Monday, police and locals said. Up to 19 employees of a private company were living in a house. On Monday morning, an employee switched on light in a room that had been filled with gas, leading to an explosion. As a result, Mohammad Shahbaz (from Punjab), Nauman (Islamabad), Mohammad Faisal (Kohat) and Mohammad Bilal (Kohat) died on the spot. Two other employees, Akhtar and Naveed, both from Punjab, suffered burn injuries. They were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar. The fire also gutted valuables worth thousands of rupees and totally damaged the room.
Police, Levies round up 23 persons in Zhob
ZHOB: Police and Levies in their raids on hotels rounded up 23 suspected persons here on Sunday and Monday nights. Large contingents of police and Levies, headed by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Zhob, Ali Ejaz conducted raids on different hotels and restaurants in the city. Twenty-three suspected men, including 10 Afghans, were arrested. The AC said the Afghan nationals were arrested for possessing no legal documents and were booked under the Foreigners Act. Others are suspected persons, he said.
Security man martyred in SWA bomb attack
WANA: A security forces personnel was martyred and another was injured on Monday in the South Waziristan Agency (SWA) in a remote-controlled device blast. Media reports said security forces were on routine patrol in Tehsil Wana when a remote-controlled bomb hit the convoy. As a result, a security forces man was martyred and another was injured. After the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and carried out a search operation to arrest the terrorists.
Two arrested with arms, ammunition
SARGODHA: The district police on Monday claimed to have foiled a terrorist plan and seized massive weapons from the accused.According to the police sources, a squad during snap checking at the Salam Chowk near the Bhalwal checkpost stopped a vehicle (LEB 831) and arrested two persons identified as Akhtar Nawaz and Fazal Karim hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Police also recovered 12 repeater guns, 28 pump action guns, 9,000 bullets of 9mm pistol, 11,000 bullets of 30 bore pistols and 3,360 bullets of 444 bore rifle from their possession.During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed that the weapons were being transported from the KP to Sargodha for evil designs. Police have registered a case and started further investigation.
FC arrest 61 Afghan nationals
QUETTA: The Frontier Corps arrested 61 Afghan nationals under the Foreigners Act in Gami Chah near Nukundi area of Balochistan on Monday. According to the FC spokesman, these Afghan nationals were apprehended by the FC personnel during checking because they were on their way to Iran without traveling documents. The FC spokesman said that they would be handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further interrogation after completing the initial inquiry.
