The Thar crime

The latest death toll of children dying of malnutrition and hunger in Thar has reached 137. In Sindh, around 40 percent of the children are undernourished.

This is criminal negligence on the part of both the federal and provincial governments. They have failed to fulfil their constitutional role. In particular, the provincial health department has totally failed to overcome the crisis despite the fact that Thar has faced famine for almost four years. Do we even have a functioning government taking care of people’s basic needs?
