Relief goods for Tajikistan

Prime Minister of Pakistan announced a generous support of US $1 million for the earthquake affected people of Tajikistan in the Gorno-Badakhshan Region which was hit by an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude on December 7, 2015, causing destruction of more than 1,330 houses and displacement of over 7,000 persons.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has made arrangement for sending winterised tents, blankets and wheat to Tajikistan. The first consignment of 2,100 tents and 12,500 blankets were dispatched today while 1,280 tons of wheat procured from PASSCO will be sent in the following days. On behalf of the Government of Pakistan, NDMA Chairman Major General Asghar Nawaz handed over the 1st tranche to Ambassador of Tajikistan Jononov Sherali here.
