This refers to the letter, ‘Nadra census’ (February 9) by Imran Khan. I fully endorse the views expressed by the writer. Since Nadra has the record of each and every citizen and families, there appears to be no need for the Statistics Division to conduct physical survey/census, incurring huge expenses. Another source of getting population data is the electoral list provided by the Election Commission in the recently held local bodies elections.
So, instead of conducting a new census, it is proposed that the government should ask people to update their data with Nadra. However, the government should ensure that one family is registered only once and there should be no duplication. Moreover, there is a need to amend domicile rules.
