Karachi
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is facing a serious financial deficit to the tune of more than Rs 5billion and on top of that recoveries from its departments are being made at a very slow pace.
Afaq Saeed, the financial adviser to the civic body, said this while speaking to The News at his office on Monday.
He protested that despite repeated requests made b y the KMC to the minister for local government, the chief secretary and the local government secretary to look into the acute financial crunch, the higher-ups had not responded.
Lambasting KMC officers over what he called “excessive expenditures”, the financial adviser said the crisis had not deterred senior officers from using luxurious vehicles and redirecting their fuel expenses on the KMC accounts.
