Contempt of court
PESHAWAR: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday handed down six-month jail term to the former chief executive officer (CEO) of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) in a case pertaining to the contempt of court.
The court also imposed Rs1 million as fine on Parvez Akhtar Shah.
He had been arrested on the charges of corruption. His case was being heard when he misbehaved with the judge who awarded him six-month jail term and also fined him.
The National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkwa had arrested Pervez Akhtar Shah for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known means of income.
The inquiry revealed that during his service from 1978 to 2015 in Wapda, he allegedly acquired a number of valuable plots of land in Peshawar and also in Islamabad and its adjacent areas.
