Van kills three bike riders

LAHORE

Three persons were killed by a speeding Mazda van near Baidian Road on Sunday.

The victims identified as Kamran, Sharafat and Ali hailed from Heir village. They were on their way on a bike when a rashly-driven van hit the bike, as a result, all the three persons received injuries. They were rushed to hospital where they died. Police shifted the bodies to morgue.

DIES: A 40-year-old woman expired in hospital on Sunday, a few hours after she vomited blood and went unconscious in the Samanabad area.She was identified as Rukhsana Bibi of Angoori Bagh Scheme. It was reported that she was on her way when she vomited blood and went unconscious. She was rushed to hospital where she expired. Police shifted the body to morgue.

LAID TO REST: Namaz-e-janaza of SHO Shadbagh Tajjamal Butt, who was shot dead by some robbers in Defence C area a day back, was held at Qila Gujar Singh Police Line on Sunday.The victim’s relatives, friends and police officers, including CCPO Lahore, DIG Operations, DIG Investigation, and other officers attended the funeral prayers. On this occasion, police presented guard of honour and salute to the coffin of the SHO. He was laid to rest at Miani Sahab graveyard.

Meanwhile, police arrested a property dealer Shahzad and his friend Ishfaq for investigation. The deceased SHO had received five bullet wounds, police said, adding that he was shot dead at point-blank range. As per CCPO, three teams have been constituted to launch a homicide investigation into the fatal shooting.

ARRESTED: Lahore police carried out search operations in various parts of the city on Sunday and arrested 14 suspects.All the arrested suspects had failed to produce proof of their identity for inspection on demand. Police also checked houses, hotels, inns and guest houses in their respective jurisdiction.
