Forex reserves ease to $20.69 billion

KARACHI: The foreign exchange reserves of the country eased by $70 million to $20.689 billion by the week ended January 15 from $20.759 billion during the last week, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Thursday.
According to the figures, the reserves held by the central bank fell by $72 million to $15.752 billion as against $15.824 billion during the week ended January 8.
The central bank attributed the fall to payments of $83 million on account of external debt servicing.
A nominal increase has been witnessed in the reserves held by commercial banks, which were at $4.937 billion from the previous week's $4.935 billion.
