Incidents like Charsadda terrorism cannot weaken govt’s resolve: Pervaiz
ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid Wednesday, condemning Charsadda terrorism incident, said such kinds of terrorist acts could not weaken government’s resolve and vowed that fight against terrorism would continue with determination.
In his statement before the National Assembly, he said according to latest information, 19 students and university staffers had been killed and another around 20 were wounded in terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University, Charsadda.
He said the prime minister himself was in touch and taking information about the terrorist incident and directed Minister for SAFRON Abdul Qadir Baloch, State Minister for Interior Balighur Rehman and the information minister to visit Charsadda and collect information about the incident. He said the whole details of the incident would be placed before the house.
The minister said the security forces timely intercepted the terrorists, otherwise more damage was feared. He said besides local security of the university, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government had also provided police to the university.The minister said firing had been stopped in the university according to the last information. He said despite the challenges and tragedies we are facing, life has to move on.
Baligur Rehman said operation against terrorists was going on successfully and they were now on the run and resorted to such kinds of activities to create panic. He said forensic team of Nadra had been sent to Charsadda.
Earlier, in a statement the minister said the whole nation was united against this menace and fight against terrorism would continue till elimination of last terrorist. He said that supreme sacrifices of the security forces and the nation would not go waste. He expressed sorrow over the loss of lives.
