CTD has arrested 64 persons countrywide for facilitating terrorists

ISLAMABAD: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 64 persons in the country so far under National Action Plan (NAP) on charges of their involvement in facilitating terrorists.

There were 41 such cases in Punjab and 57 persons were allegedly involved, out of which 51 arrests were made so far. A countrywide data on the matter issued by Interior Ministry Wednesday revealed that of the total arrests made in Punjab 14 persons were under investigation while 26 persons have been challaned.

The sources said in Sindh five persons were arrested on charges of their involvement in facilitating terrorists by providing them financial assistance while in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa four cases have so far been reported to Counter Terrorism Department since January 1, 2015, in which eight accused have been arrested and challaned to ATC courts.

In Islamabad Capital Territory no such case against any person has been registered during the years 2014 and 2015. No case was reported in Federally Administered Tribal Areas and no person has been arrested in Azad Jammu and Kashmir for facilitating terrorists.

The sources said in Gilgit-Baltistan, cases have been registered in Diamer district since start of NAP and 28 persons have been arrested for providing shelter and meal to terrorists, and their cases have been finalized. The sources said Peshawar police have taken steps in order to improve the security which were establishment of three checkposts including in front of main gate of PAF Base PP Inqilab at Inqilab Road and Tando checkpost near PAF base.

Moreover, the sources said police mobile along with 516constables have stationed at check point in front of PP Inqilab on Inqilab Road and each and every suspect vehicle person is properly searched.
