Training to control influenza starts

Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof. Khalid Mahmood has said training of doctors, nurses and paramedics has been started at the Lahore General Hospital under PGMI Health Education Programme in the backdrop of controlling seasonal influenza H1 N1 in an effective manner. Emergency arrangements like dengue have been made at the LGH for the treatment of patients of H1 N1 and Dr. Sheraz Anjum of Medical Unit one has been appointed as focal person to ensure immediate treatment of such patients.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at the LGH on Tuesday, which was attended by Prof. Dr Tanveer-ul-Islam, Head of Pulmonology Department Dr. Javed Asghar Magsi, MS Dr. Niaz Ahmed and other seniors.

Prof. Khalid Mahmood further told the media that there was a dire need to create awareness about the seasonal flue H1 N1 among masses instead of fearing from it. He stressed the masses to adopt preventive measures against this flue which was also called swine flu.

He also said media and civil society must play their role along with medical teams to sensitise the people about this disease.

Orthopaedic: The 20th Intensive Review Course in Orthopaedic Surgery is being held in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore from 22nd of February to 26th of February 2016.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, this course is especially designed for the student doctors of FCPS, FRCS and MS to prepare them for their examination.
