Youth shot dead in Badami Bagh

LAHORE

A 25-year-old youth was shot dead by some unidentified persons in the limits of Badami Bagh police station on Tuesday.

The victim identified as Adnan hailed from Sadiqpura, Badami Bagh and worked as a bus conductor. On the day of the incident, the victim Adnan was seen while having an exchange of hot words with two to three people who later shot at and wounded him and fled the scene. He was rushed to hospital where he died. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a murder case against unidentified persons.

COMMITS SUICIDE: A 26-year-old woman committed suicide in her house in the Guldasht Town area on Tuesday.The woman was identified as Nasreen, wife of Suhail of Guldasht Town. It was reported that the relationship between Nasreen and her husband Suhail had turned sour when she came to know that her husband intended to marry another woman. The couple used to have an exchange of harsh words over the said issue. On the day of the incident, Nasreen ended her life by taking poisonous pills. Police shifted the body to morgue.

liquor: Three more people died of tainted liquor in the provincial metropolis on Tuesday. The death toll rose to six from tainted liquor in the city of Lahore on Tuesday, as dozens of others who consumed it were battling for their lives in hospitals, officials said.

The victims drank the toxic liquor in the Nishtar Colony and Liaqatabad areas three days back. The first three deaths were reported on Monday. Three more people died at hospitals on Monday night, bringing the death toll to six. Most of those who died were labourers. The deceased people were identified as Boota Masih, Gohar Masih, Asim, Shan, Sunny and an unidentified man. Shan and Sunny who hailed from Liaqatabad expired in hospital on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, Lahore police have launched a crackdown against the bootleggers after the said incident.

ACCIDENTS: Total 489 road traffic accidents were reported in the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which seven lives were lost and 364 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 197 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.
