Khuhro under fire for lighting cigarette in assembly
Karachi
Provincial education and parliamentary affairs minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro faced the opposition parties and media’s criticism on Tuesday for smoking in the provincial assembly hall after the session was adjourned earlier in the day.
TV footage showed Khuhro lighting a cigarette and smoking while surrounded by other members of the House.
Pakistan Muslim League-Functional MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi said Khuhro had violated the sanctity of the assembly by smoking in its hall. She added that it was the same assembly that had passed a resolution against smoking.
Later, Khuhro, while talking to reporters at the Chief Minister’s House, said he had lit the cigarette unintentionally and he could never think of violating the sanctity of the House.
