LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) UK President Zubair Gull has warned that targeting members of the Sharif family here through street demonstrations and hooliganism would not be tolerated and if Imran Khan did not stop his followers. the PML-N-UK would not be able to stop its activists from demonstrating outside family homes of Jemima Khan, Annabel Goldsmith and rest of the Goldmsith family members.
At a press conference on Saturday, Zubair Gull condemned those who last week targeted the family home of Nawaz Sharif near Park Lane and threatened another protest when Nawaz Sharif would have stopover next week in London on his way to New York to address the UN General Assembly Session. Those jointly holding protests are supporters of Pervez Musharraf, Lord Nazir Ahmed’s group members and a faction of PTI led by Imran Khan’s advisor Sahibzada Jahangir.
Zubair Gull said that British Pakistanis have played an active role in Pakistani politics and recounted that PML-N campaigned movement against Pervez Musharraf’s Lahore in London but always held protests outside Pakistan High Commission in London or Pakistani consulates across the UK.
“Its part of our political ethos that we don’t target families of our opponents but PTI and some people who are part of the London conspiracy have crossed all limits. We are warning them to stop this or we will not be able to stop our workers from replying to them in a befitting manner.”
Zubair Gull said some people supporting hooliganism are those who have benefited from Nawaz Sharif but have turned against them just because they have not been accommodated as they wished to be. “These people are like snakes and turncoats. They helped in the London Plan by Imran Khan, Dr Qadri, Chaudhrys and others to end the democratically elected government. They must be ashamed of their conduct.”
Zubair Gull was accompanied by central leaders of the PML-N-UK. He said that Imran-Qadri dharnas have already damaged Pakistan to the tune of billions. “Chinese President cancelled Pakistan visit. He was bringing lots of investment to Pakistan because Imran-Qadri are pursuing the agenda that they were handed over in London. History will never forget them that they conspired in London to bring a coup in Pakistan. They met secretly and entered into a dirty alliance and lied about it all along until evidence was produced about it. They stand exposed now.”
Gull called on Imran-Qadri to end their ‘dharnas’ and concentrate on helping the IDPs and the victims of floods in Kashmir and Punjab. “At a time when millions are suffering, these two people are being selfish and egotistic and doing everything to divert the attention of government and Pakistan army from helping Pakistanis. It is clear that their agenda is against the interests of Pakistan.” Meanwhile, PTI UK’s Information Secretary Taqveen Siddiqui told The News that PTI doesn’t believe in demonstrations outside private residences of any individuals and “distances itself from any such event that has happened in the past or may happen in future until announced through means and office bearers of the elected party chapter in the UK”.
He said those who are part of this campaign are acting on their own but PML-N believes that some senior PTI figures who have been part of the demonstrations are close to Imran Khan and the PTI leaders deal with them directly, bypassing the elected body, and they wouldn’t do such activities without approval from Imran Khan.
