LONDON: A young Pakistani business entrepreneur from Karachi has entered the coveted BBC1 competition called The Apprentice, hosted by billionaire business mogul Lord Alan Sugar. Zeeshan Shah grew up in Karachi and studied at local schools but now he is based in London. After coming to London in 2006, Zeeshan Shah worked very hard to make his way up and today he is the CEO of his own successful property investment company. Each year over 100,000 most successful young entrepreneurs battle it out in a gruelling selection process to be a part of the world’s leading business show. There will be 16 contestants for this year’s show, due to begin on 9th May, but it’s Zeeshan Shah, the CEO of a property investment company, who has already created a lot of excitement with his declaration: “I take inspiration from Napoleon. I am here to conquer.” Zeeshan believes his greatest strengths are that he is an eternal optimist, street-smart and well-connected. He says his weaknesses would include bossiness and that he can’t do something if his heart isn’t in it. Starting his career as a part-time waiter whilst at school in the UK, he believes his greatest business achievement is still yet to come. He says: “I’m a ‘Great’ of my generation. I’m an innovator and leader in business. I take inspiration from Napoleon; I am here to conquer.”The Pakistani Apprentice hopeful will be aiming to catch the eye of fearsome show boss Lord Sugar who is known for delivering sharp sentences and sets very high standards for the new business leaders. The popular BBC series is watched by millions of people and it has gone on to produce many successful business people. In case of winning the competition, Zeeshan Shah will get an investment of £250,000 from the electronics tycoon. Over three months, the contestants will be grilled before the viewers about their business models and what plans they have to make their ideas successful. Those who are booted from the show have to listen to that famous damning verdict from Lord Sugar: You are fired! Lord Sugar is clear and tells his contestants that they have to be brilliant, nothing less. Zeeshan is a patriotic Pakistani and is known for his works with the Pakistan Britain Trade and Investment Forum and various other government forums promoting trade and investment into Pakistan. Last year Zeeshan Shah jointly led a delegation along with Standard Chartered Banks leader Sir Thomas Harris to Pakistan where they held talks with various Pakistani leaders. Zeeshan Shah has been involved in several property, finance and mining sector projects in Pakistan. Zeeshan and his team are currently in the process of launching the Pakistan Trade and Investment Corporation (PTIC), a non-political organisation dedicated to promoting investment and trade with Pakistan. Modelled against the UK government body the UK Trade and Investment Forum the PTIC will be a platform contributing to Pakistan’s economic and social development by promoting and facilitating international trade and investment into the country. Zeeshaan was not available for comments because The Apprentice contract means that contestants can speak to media only once they are out from the show.
