Twist in gangrape case

LAHORE

The rape victim girl Wednesday while recording her statement before a court stated that she was neither abducted nor gang raped but was solely raped by main accused Adnan Sanaullah after she fell unconscious due to forced consumption of liquor.

The 15 years old girl recorded her statement before a Cantt courts female magistrate, Tabinda Batool Aamir. The girl stated that she was already in contact with main suspect Adnan Sanaullah. She stated that Adnan called her to give a birthday gift. She said she went to meet Adnan who took her to a house and forced her to consume liquor which made her unconscious. Later, he raped her, she stated.

She said there was a man, Majid, in the room who did not rape her but committed immoral acts. She stated that when she came into senses she found herself in a hotel room where all the accused were present.

However, on the other end counsel of the accused declared the incident dubious contending the victim’s statement showed that she willingly went with Adnan. He submitted that no one committed rape with the girl and the girl is making a false story.

As per FIR registered by the mother of victim girl, on December 26, her daughter was allegedly kidnapped by eight men including Adnan Sanaullah, Abdul Majid, Muhammad Umer, Ameer Ahmad, Haris, Bilawal, Qamar Zaman and Khalid and was taken to the hotel room and raped by each of the accused. Her family learned of the assault when one of the alleged rapists sent an SMS message from his own cellphone. It said: “your daughter is lying unconscious in room 230 of a hotel on The Mall.”

Police had registered an FIR against eight persons and nominated Adnan Sanaullah as the main suspect in the case. The police booked them under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and conspiracy under Section 506. According to the DNA report, the sample matched with main accused Adnan Sanaullah who is said to be as PML-N Youth Wing's General Secretary and linked with PML-N Minister Rana Mashhood.

The court after recording statement of the girl has adjourned by January 16.

Meanwhile, mother of the girl after court proceedings while talking to the media men said that the accused were pressurising her family for a truce and asking her to withdraw the case.
